About HUMAT Test
Through its new admission test HUMAT, Humanitas University wants to identify talented students that independently from their diverse educational background possess abilities in scientific thinking, critical thinking and have a solid academic literacy. The purpose of the test is to identify candidates who would be able to succeed in medicine. For these reasons, the test investigates the ability to succeed during the pre-clinical years but also non-cognitive qualities essential to a successful career in medicine.
Enrollment to Humanitas University is subordinated to passing the HUMAT test. It tests what you can do, not what you know. For fair entry selection to medical school. The date of the Upcoming Test is 9th July 2020. This Test will be Conducted Online so Students can take it from their Home.
The first session will take place at 9.00 a.m. Italian time / 12:30 PM ( IST) and the second session will start at 5.00 p.m. Italian time / 8:30 PM (IST). During the registration procedure, candidates must select the preferred time of the test session.
The test does not, therefore, evaluate previous knowledge but a set of skills and abilities relevant to:
face the academic requirements of the degree course/course of study,
foster the emergence and progression of scientific reasoning
sustain meaningful and self-regulated learning
promote correct decision-making processes
The test is composed of two sections: Scientific thinking and Academic literacy/Critical Thinking
Section 1, Scientific thinking, includes items that test
Mathematical Thinking
Procedural Thinking
Visual Thinking
Section 2, Academic Literacy, includes items that assess the candidate’s ability to understand and use the information presented in an academic text. These reading passages are selected on the basis that they exhibit the textual characteristics of quasi-scientific research papers, but crucially without the expectation that the candidate will have deep knowledge or understanding of the topic of the text.
Specifically, the testing point will include:
Critical Thinking skills e.g. analysis, evaluation, inference, deductive skills, and inductive skill
Local expeditious reading, e.g. scanning and searching for specific details.
Global expeditious reading, e.g. skimming for gist, searching for key ideas.
Global careful reading, e.g. comprehending main ideas, connecting ideas from different texts and understanding how different texts relate to each other.
Word- and sentence-level processes, e.g. word recognition, the meaning of a preposition.
The test developed is by Humanitas University and experts from the University of Cambridge, Imperial College, University of Oxford Medical School and Leeds Medical School.
The HUMAT Admissions Test Registrations closes on 30th June.
